 “See Yourself in Limestone” Census

The Limestone District School Board is committed to equity, inclusion and ensuring that everyone has a strong sense of belonging. In September 2017,  the Ministry of Education released its Education Equity Action Plan — a three-year strategy that involves working with parents, educators, principals, board staff, trustees and the community, to identify and eliminate discriminatory practices, systemic barriers and bias from schools and classrooms. The fundamental premise of this work is that ensuring equity, ensures success.

During the week of November 23-27, 2020, all students in the Limestone District School Board will have an opportunity to participate in the confidential “See Yourself in Limestone” Census. The purpose of the survey is to identify potential gaps in our understanding regarding the identities, lived experiences and abilities of the students who attend our schools. Ultimately, we want to ensure and equitable environment where all children feel welcome and represented in our classrooms and curriculum.

The online census, which will be completed by students in Grades 4 to 12 during supervised class time and by families of Kindergarten to Grade 3 students at home, will ask students a variety of questions around their identity and demographics. All information on individual students will remain confidential.
