The Terry Fox School Run – September 30th, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Terry Fox Foundation is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its extraordinary commitment to the cause of cancer research. Towards the end of September 2020, approximately 9000 schools across Canada will join forces to commemorate Terry’s Marathon of Hope.

Newburgh Public School is proud of its committed involvement in the “Terry Fox Run”. This season marks our 16th year of participation and we congratulate the NPS school community on raising a grand total of $12,743.05 over the past fifteen runs!

In 2020 we will be trying to surpass our 2019 fundraising total of $749.35 by raising:

$800.00

Instead of using pledge sheets to collect money, we ask that children collect donations from family and friends. In the past, children have often made donations from their own savings which is an incredibly generous gesture. If every student gathers $7 in donations, we will reach our goal. We encourage students to bring in donations as they collect them so that we can track progress towards our goal over the week before the run. Cheques and cash will both be accepted. Please make cheques payable to the “Terry Fox Foundation”. This year, we are encouraging families to make an online donation by visiting our school’s Terry Fox Page at:

All monies raised will be forwarded to the Terry Fox Foundation.

We invite all families to visit the National School Run Day website at

http://www.terryfox.org/SchoolRun/

and spend time with your children to help increase awareness regarding our participation in this very worthwhile cause. Each class will spend time discussing Terry Fox and his amazing legacy in individual classrooms. The Run may look a little different this year, but we are proud to continue our commitment to this important cause!

Thank you in advance for your assistance in helping us achieve our goal in support of cancer research!
