The Exemption from Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction, Grades 1 to 8 Procedure (the “Procedure”) was developed in response to the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Policy/Program Memorandum (PPM) No. 162 which requires school boards to develop a procedure that allows for students to be exempted, at the request of their parents/guardians, from instruction related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations found in Strand D of the Ontario Curriculum: Health and Physical Education, Grades 1-8, 2019 (the “Curriculum”). Classroom teachers will inform families of the timeline for delivering Strand D Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction, and an exemption letter will be provided. AccessAbility Week is an opportunity to build awareness, empathy, and understanding, while continuing to create a school where everyone feels valued, included, and supported. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by talking about kindness, respect, and the importance of creating spaces where everyone can succeed.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">June is </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">National Indigenous History Month </strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">in Canada, an opportunity to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and&nbsp;Métis. Below is a link to the expectations by grade. </span></p><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" dir="ltr" style="text-align: start;"><a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/documents/652bb7db-7aeb-5a00-bf1f-2421f5463373?fingerprint=20260617T1245Z" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Form 325-D - List of H.D. and S.H Instruction Expectations by </span></a></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" dir="ltr"><a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/documents/652bb7db-7aeb-5a00-bf1f-2421f5463373?fingerprint=20260617T1245Z" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Grade</span></a></li></ul><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr"><u><span class="editor-text-underline" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">2025-2026 LDSB School Year Calendar</span></u></h2><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">A </span><a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/documents/7291ab76-99b5-43a1-8f2b-edaade7c53e8/2025-04-07-LDSB%20School%20Year%20Calendar-2025-2026.pdf?fingerprint=ppb20251217014043" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">PDF version of the 2025-2026 School Year Calendar is available online</span></a><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">. </span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/1161a439-a52c-4144-ad44-b2b141f1f967?fingerprint=ppb20251217013147" alt="2025 2026 LDSB School Year Calendar" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/81f855ac-37e6-42c2-baba-49da61522312?fingerprint=ppb20260223200617" alt="school mental health image" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Check out the School Mental Health Family Resources following the link below</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><a href="about:blank" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">https://smho-smso.ca/</span></a></p><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: center;"><img src="/images/fde66b98-2e58-40d1-bd92-c4ee63a6c7d0?fingerprint=ppb20251217015329" alt="School Counts" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr"><br></h2><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/6b8671bd-7df8-4d15-bbbb-3ead38299e08?fingerprint=ppb20251217014016" alt="Screenshot 2025 09 12 084941" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/d991c2bc-1a0e-4163-975c-2ead7867aba8?fingerprint=ppb20251217015010" alt="KFL&amp;A" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/0116fd7b-4dfa-4833-ba03-d3ca3db87588?fingerprint=ppb20251217013010" alt="Hate has no home" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><img src="/images/926ebb63-0e89-498b-9ef9-3ab4a1ebe061?fingerprint=ppb20251217014343" alt="Newburgh PS logo" width="100%" height="inherit" style="width:100%;height:inherit;display:inline-block"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: center;"><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><br></p></p>

Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

<p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&amp;A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.&nbsp; Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture. As a publicly funded school board, we have both a legal and moral responsibility to create learning environments where everyone can see themselves reflected and feel a sense of belonging.</span></p>
